Court Fixes Nov 13 To Hear Ibru’s Suit Against FG

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday fixed November 13 for a definite hearing of the suit brought before it by former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the defunct Oceanic International Bank Plc, Mrs. Cecilia Ibru.

Mrs Ibru in the suit accused the federal government of violating the terms of her plea bargain agreement.

Ibru instituted the suit for herself and the Ibru Group against the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).Federal High Court in Abuja

She is urging the court to compel the federal government to implement her plea bargain as specified in the agreement she signed.

Justice Ahmed Mohammed, observed that all outstanding issues regarding services on parties as well as their responses had been sorted out and held that the matter which merely required a simple look at the terms of the agreement signed by the parties to determine if they were complied with by the parties to the agreement ought not to suffer any further delay.

“This case is very simple, the plaintiff is saying that she forfeited some properties to the defendants as part of a plea bargain but that the defendants also took over companies not contained in the plea bargain. It is really simple. You all should be prepared for a definite hearing on the next adjourned date,” the judge stated.
