President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday made a surprise appearance at Bishop David Oyedepo’s Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel, Ota, Ogun State, asking the congregation to pray for the country.
Our correspondent learnt that the President’s visit took some of the worshippers by surprise.
A church member, who said he was at the service attended by the President, told our correspondent that he only came to thank the church for the prayers for him and the country.
The source, who craved anonymity, added that Jonathan also said he had come to thank God for being given another opportunity by the Peoples Democratic Party to stand for re-election this year.
The source said, “Yes, it is true President Goodluck Jonathan worshipped in one of our services today (Sunday).
“He did not say much. He came to thank the church for their prayers for him and the country as a whole.
“He also thanked God for being given the opportunity by his party to stand for re-election in the February 14 presidential election.
“Then, he urged the church to continue to pray for him and the nation.”
Another member of Winners Chapel, who is also a senior journalist, said that President Jonathan applauded the church for contributing to the educational development of the country.
The source added that before the end of the service, Oyedepo prayed for the nation and the successful conduct of the 2015 polls.
He also wished the President success in all his endeavours.
