Taylor Morris and Danielle Kelly were high school sweethearts. Soon after graduation, Taylor joined the Navy. While he was deployed in Afghanistan, the 23-year-old Navy petty officer was using a metal detector to clear a path when he stepped on improvised explosive device. He lost both of his legs and arms and was fortunate to still be alive. Taylor was first flown to Kandahar, Afghanistan, then to Germany, and finally to the Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, DC where he was reunited with Kelly, who stayed by his side ever since.
Someone took 21 of the couple’s photos and organized them to show their inspiring love, and then shared them on the internet. The photos went viral and Taylor and Danielle’s story went on to inspire thousands of others to persevere through hard times.
