The LCV Chairman Moyo district Jimmy Vukoni Okudi together with other Ugandans who were picked up by South Sudan military and taken to Kajo-Keji County have been released.
Release of the LCV Chairman, Census officials and journalists from the hands of the South Sudan officials took the intervention of officials from the Office of the President and other top leaders from the North Western region.
The state minister for internal affairs, James Baba confirmed the release of the Ugandan nationals to on Friday evening.
Okudi together with other officials were taken hostage by South Sudan military operatives as they attempted to secure the release of census enumerators and an LC 3 chairman of Moyo Sub County.
The LC3 chairman had earlier on been abducted at the disputed Wano village in Moyo district.
Before the release of the Ugandans, UPDF and police deployed heavily in Moyo town and the border areas after locals threatened to evict South Sudanese business people in the area.
