Following intensive discussions with Ukrainian authorities about how to offer the best possible support, Germany has signalled solidarity by providing people in need with moveable housing units, kitchens and generators, as well as with hot water tanks, water and diesel tanks, hygiene kits, camp beds, medical equipment and other consumer products.

These goods are now being transported to Kyiv, where they will be complemented by household items and devices bought locally.

The aid transport will then head to Kharkiv, Sloviansk, Mariupol, Zaporizhia and Dnipropetrovsk in Eastern Ukraine.

The transport was commissioned jointly by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and the Foreign Office.

Further more, the Germany has pledged financial support amounting to €25.5 million in 2014 and plans to send an additional 4,000 housing units with the coming weeks. Together with France, Germany also offered drones to monitor the ceasefire between Russian and Ukrainian troops agreed upon during the Minsk Conference.

President Petro Poroschenko thanked Germany for the aid transport and its support.
